A series about being left behind after a suicide. Like a chain around your ankles, the feelings of loneliness, guilt and sorrow are always threatening to drag you under. But as you are drowning, you know you will never cut them off; they are all that is left of the one you loved. And a part of you knows deep inside that you will always be there, alone, down there where the memories never cease to haunt you and you can be with her again.
Many people have a vision of what a Chinese person is, but that vision is hardly what most Chinese identify with. Through my project I wish to show Norwegian people that Chinese are not at all a homogeneous group, but rather as diverse as any other group or nationality. I want to visually combine Norwegian and Chinese influences in my work, in a way that also embodies a strong reference to traditional Chinese art. To do this I want to use two photographs per person participating in my project – one portrait and one still life; the still life further explaining or exploring each participant.
